Recent Advances in Video Understanding
Video is everywhere, from YouTube and Telegram to security cameras and autonomous vehicles. To process these huge amounts of data we need machines which can tell what is happening when and where in a video? A long history of video understanding admits the difficulty and technical challenges which are involved in this research area. This talk gives an overview on the latest progress which has been made to understand video content using deep neural networks.
Dr. Amirhossein Habibian is a senior researcher in Qualcomm Research at Amsterdam. His current focus is on developing state-of-the-art deep learning algorithms for visual understanding in constrained devices such as phones, drones, and embedded platforms. Amirhossein obtained his PhD in artificial intelligence from the University of Amsterdam in 2016. During his PhD, he won several major awards including the best paper award in International Conference on Multimedia in 2014 and top performer in international video search engines competition (TRECVID) in 2014 and 2015. Amirhossein has obtained his BSc. and MSc. from electrical and computer engineer school at the University of Tehran.
